Description

The Linear is a slim rectangular ceiling canopy with three outlets, made to hang a row of pendants from one tidy plate on the ceiling. It measures 42cm long and 7.5cm wide, and it is 3.7cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling without drawing the eye. It gives no light of its own: it is wired in to the mains by an electrician and carries that supply to the pendants hung from it, feeding them at mains voltage. To use it, you need up to three pendants to hang from it, each sold separately, and those pendants are what light the room. We offer it in six finishes: White, Black, Brushed Champagne, Matt Black, Brushed Bronze and Brushed Brass.

A linear canopy comes into its own over anything long and narrow. Hang three pendants in a line over a dining table, a long sideboard or a desk, and the light follows the shape of the furniture rather than pooling in one spot. It suits a hallway or a living room just as well, wherever you want a run of pendants from a single fitting on the ceiling. The canopy stays in view on the ceiling, so the finish matters: White melts into a pale ceiling, Black and Matt Black draw a crisp line against it, and Brushed Champagne, Brushed Bronze and Brushed Brass bring a warm, brushed tone. It is for indoor rooms.

The canopy is a clean, square-edged box with its three outlets set evenly along its length, so the pendants hang at a regular spacing in one straight line. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install. When you plan the room, choose your pendants first, then pick the finish of the canopy to match them or to set them off, and measure the table or sideboard so the 42cm length sits centred over it.
