Description

The Knightsbridge 120° PIR sensor module is a 50x50mm grey polycarbonate passive infrared sensor designed to fit euro modular frames that accept standard 50mm square modules. The sensor detects movement across a 120° horizontal arc at ranges up to 5 metres and switches connected lighting on automatically when motion is detected in low ambient light conditions.

Intended for corridors, stairwells, lobbies, utility rooms and small commercial spaces where automatic switching reduces unnecessary lighting use, the module requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and wires via live and neutral connections to the mains supply. The sensor supports loads up to 100W LED or 200W incandescent, covering typical residential and small commercial lighting circuits. The internal timer holds lights on for a pre-set three minutes after the last detected movement before switching off automatically.

The grey polycarbonate construction and flush-mount design suit modern interiors and commercial fit-outs where sensors need to blend into wall-mounted modular switch plates rather than standing out as separate ceiling or wall-mounted boxes. The lux sensitivity adjusts internally to prevent the sensor triggering during daylight hours, so lights only activate when both movement is detected and ambient light falls below the threshold. The IP20 rating limits the module to dry indoor locations.

What euro modular frames is this compatible with?

The module fits any euro modular frame or grid system that accepts a 50x50mm module. Knightsbridge produces matching modular frames in various finishes. The module requires a separate faceplate, which is sold separately.

Can the detection range and timer be adjusted?

The timer is pre-set to three minutes and cannot be adjusted in the field. The lux sensitivity controls when the sensor activates based on ambient light levels, but the 5-metre detection range and 120° arc are fixed by the sensor design.

What load does it support?

The module supports up to 100W LED or 200W incandescent load on a 230V 50Hz supply. This covers typical single-circuit residential lighting or small commercial runs. Exceeding the rated load may cause the sensor to fail or trip.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoor locations?

No. The IP20 rating limits the module to dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use where moisture ingress is possible.
