Description

Joe is a round recessed downlight for the ceiling, 9cm across, with a deep, flared trim that sets the light source well back inside it. We offer it in two finishes, White or Black, and with two light sources: Integrated LED, or Lampholder (bulb not included), which takes one GU10 bulb. The integrated LED version needs no bulb at all and gives 680lm of 3000K light with a CRI of 80, spread over a 60° beam that lights the space beneath it rather than a narrow spot. The lampholder version lets you choose your own GU10 bulb and change it whenever you like.

It suits a kitchen ceiling well, used as a few downlights over one area or set out in rows across the whole room. The White finish sits quietly in a white ceiling, while Black gives a crisp dark ring that marks out each light. Joe is an indoor fitting rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only and is not for a bathroom, a shower room or anywhere it can be splashed. Because the light source sits deep in the trim, the fitting keeps a clean, simple look when it is switched off.

Joe is a Class II fitting for 230V mains power, wired in by an electrician, so it is one for a qualified electrician to install. It needs a 7.5cm cut-out in the ceiling and 10.5cm to 11cm of depth above it, so it is worth checking the space in the ceiling void before you choose. The 9cm trim sits over the edge of the cut-out for a tidy finish. If you choose the Lampholder (bulb not included) version, buy a GU10 bulb at the same time, so the downlight is ready to use as soon as it is fitted. Our photographs show the white version.
