Description
The Knightsbridge OP665GBK is a weatherproof 5-gang remote control switch box rated IP66 and IK06, built from impact-resistant black polycarbonate. The unit provides five individually switched outlets controlled wirelessly from the supplied remote handset, with a maximum 13A combined load across all five gangs. Each gang carries different current ratings: one at 5A, two at 2.5A, one at 2A, and one at 1A, allowing mixed loads from outdoor lighting circuits to garden pumps and power tools.
Designed for outdoor installation where mains switching is needed without hard-wired wall switches, the box suits garden lighting control, outbuilding power distribution, caravan site hookups, and temporary event power. The IP66 rating protects against dust ingress and powerful water jets from any direction, while the IK06 impact rating provides moderate mechanical protection against knocks and accidental strikes. Six 20mm cable entry glands on the base allow in-feed and outgoing cable runs with sealed entries.
The remote control operates at 10-20m range depending on environmental interference and line-of-sight, using a 433MHz RF signal that does not require pointing the handset directly at the box. Each of the five buttons on the remote corresponds to one gang on the switch box, and each gang has a neon indicator on the front face showing whether that outlet is live. The remote requires one 1.5V AAA battery (not supplied). The polycarbonate housing measures 225mm wide, 103mm high, and projects 58mm from the mounting surface once installed.

Frequently Asked
What's the maximum combined load across all five gangs?
The unit is rated at 13A maximum across all five outlets combined. Individual gangs carry different ratings: one 5A, two at 2.5A, one at 2A, and one at 1A. Total connected load must not exceed 13A at 230V (approximately 3,000W).
What does IP66 mean for outdoor use?
IP66 provides complete dust-tightness and protection against powerful water jets from any angle. The unit can be mounted outdoors in exposed positions and will withstand heavy rain, hose-down cleaning, and coastal spray, but it is not rated for continuous submersion.
How is the box mounted?
The polycarbonate housing has mounting points on the rear for screw-fixing to a wall, fence post, or backing board. Cable entries are on the base, so the unit is typically mounted vertically with the control buttons and neon indicators facing forward.
What's the range of the remote control?
The remote operates at 10-20m depending on obstacles, metal structures, and RF interference in the environment. It uses 433MHz RF signalling, so it does not require line-of-sight to the switch box — you can operate it through walls and around corners within range.
