Description

The Knightsbridge IP66 remote controlled switch box provides three independently switched outputs rated at 13A combined, housed in a black impact-resistant polycarbonate enclosure with IP66 and IK06 protection against water ingress and mechanical impact. The unit operates via a supplied handheld remote control with a range of 10-20m depending on surrounding obstacles and RF interference.

Designed for outdoor lighting control, garden power tools, Christmas lights and external audio systems where remote switching avoids running back to an indoor wall switch or consumer unit. The three outputs comprise one 8A-rated channel and two 2.5A-rated channels, allowing higher-draw devices like electric hedge trimmers or pressure washers on channel one and decorative lighting or audio on channels two and three. Four 20mm cable entry glands on the base and side accept standard outdoor cable runs, and the earth terminal accommodates protective bonding where required.

The polycarbonate enclosure resists UV degradation, impact from garden tools and corrosion from salt spray in coastal environments. The IP66 rating permits installation in fully exposed positions including mounting on external walls, fence posts and garden structures where rain, hose spray and windblown dust are present. A neon indicator on the front panel shows when mains power is connected. The remote control requires one AAA battery (not included) and pairs with the receiver inside the enclosure on first use.

The unit carries Class I earthing and is certified to EN 61058 (switches for appliances), EN300/EN301 (radio equipment directive) and EN 62479 (electromagnetic field exposure). Dimensions are 160mm wide, 103mm tall and 58mm projection from the mounting surface once the cable glands are fitted. Suitable for UK 230V 50Hz mains only.

The remote operates at 10-20m depending on the environment. Brick walls, metal structures and dense foliage reduce the effective range, while open gardens or clear line-of-sight installations allow the full 20m. The remote requires one AAA battery (not included).
