Description
This is a replacement prismatic glass for a bulkhead light: a round, clear glass dome with a flat top and a shallow lip around its base. Fine ribs radiate from the centre of the top, and close vertical ribs run all the way round the side. Ribbed prismatic glass breaks up the light from the lamp behind it and spreads it evenly, so a bulkhead gives a soft, even glow rather than the hard glare of a bare bulb.
It fits three of our bulkhead lights: the Small Cabin Bulkhead, the Trident Bulkhead and the Trident Shield Bulkhead. A replacement glass is for the day the old one cracks or breaks, from a stray ball, a ladder or a careless knock, and a new glass puts the light back as it was without replacing the whole fitting. It is also a sensible spare to keep in the shed for a light on a busy wall, so a breakage means a quick swap rather than a dark doorway.
Clear ribbed glass collects dust, insects and cobwebs in its grooves over time, and that dulls the light. A wipe with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, inside and out, with the light switched off and the glass cool, brings the glow back. Before you order, check the name of the bulkhead on your wall: this glass is made for the Small Cabin, Trident and Trident Shield bulkheads, and we list it for no other light.

Frequently Asked
Which of your lights does this replacement glass fit?
It fits three of our bulkhead lights: the Small Cabin Bulkhead, the Trident Bulkhead and the Trident Shield Bulkhead.
What does prismatic glass do?
The ribs in prismatic glass bend and scatter the light from the lamp, giving a soft, even glow instead of a bright point of glare.
Is this glass clear or frosted?
It is clear glass, with fine ribs radiating across the flat top and close vertical ribs running all the way round the side.
Will this glass fit a different bulkhead light?
We list it only for the Small Cabin, Trident and Trident Shield bulkheads, so check the name of your light before you order.
How do I clean the prismatic glass?
Switch the light off, let the glass cool, then wipe it inside and out with a soft cloth and warm soapy water to clear the ribs.
