Description

The Firefly in the Sky is a rechargeable table lamp, 26.5cm tall and 12.4cm across, with a flared drum shade on a slim stem rising from a round base. It comes in a Corten finish, a warm rust-brown that runs evenly over the shade, the stem and the base. The light is an integrated LED, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It draws 2W and gives 134 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 90, which keeps wood, fabric and skin looking true to colour. Power comes from a rechargeable battery, charged by USB-C at 5V DC.

With no cable trailing from it while it is lit, it can sit wherever a little light is wanted: on a bedside table, on a bookshelf, or on a side table next to a reading chair in the living room. It is rated IP65, so it suits a bathroom as well, where a low glow on a shelf or beside the bath is far kinder late in the evening than a bright ceiling light. At 26.5cm it is easy to move from one room to the next, and its 134 lumens give a gentle pool of light rather than lighting a whole room.

The Corten finish gives the lamp an earthy, weathered warmth that sits comfortably beside oak, linen, stone and plaster, and the single colour from shade to base keeps the outline calm and simple. It is a Class III fitting running at a low 5V DC and needs no wiring at all. To recharge, connect it by USB-C, then set it back where it belongs.
