Description

The Knightsbridge HCBC is a brushed chrome hole converter kit that adapts ceiling cutouts between 78mm and 120mm diameter to accept standard recessed downlights. The kit comprises a 140mm diameter pressed steel faceplate in brushed chrome, a bridge connector that spans the existing hole, a 12V MR16 low-voltage lampholder, and a GU10 230V mains lampholder. Bulbs are not included.

Designed for retrofit installations where ceiling holes have been over-cut, damaged, or left oversized from previous fittings, the converter sits flush against the ceiling surface and conceals the aperture behind a clean circular trim. The 12mm projection from ceiling to faceplate surface keeps the fitting low-profile. The dual lampholder provision allows installers to switch between low-voltage MR16 halogen or LED fittings and mains-voltage GU10 fittings without replacing the converter plate.

The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic tone that pairs with both warm and cool interior colour schemes. The pressed steel construction gives structural rigidity across the 140mm diameter while remaining light enough not to strain plasterboard ceilings. Each kit is individually boxed with all components required for a single installation.

What size hole does this convert?

The bridge connector spans holes from 78mm to 120mm diameter. The 140mm faceplate sits against the ceiling surface and conceals the existing cutout underneath.

Does it come with bulbs?

No. The kit includes both a 12V MR16 and a GU10 230V lampholder, but bulbs are sold separately. Choose the lampholder and bulb type that matches your existing wiring and transformer setup.

Can I use this with LED bulbs?

Yes. Both the MR16 and GU10 lampholders accept LED, halogen or other compatible bulb types in their respective fittings. For 12V MR16 LED bulbs, ensure your transformer is LED-compatible.

Is it suitable for bathroom installation?

The kit carries no IP rating and is designed for dry internal use only. For bathroom zones requiring IP-rated fittings, choose a dedicated bathroom downlight converter instead.
