Description

The Knightsbridge 6-8 gang galvanised steel back box is a 35mm deep flush-mounting enclosure for installing modular grid faceplates with 6 or 8 grid positions. Measuring 134mm x 134mm, the box is pressed from galvanised steel and fitted with an earth terminal, providing a secure mounting point for both flat plate and screwless grid systems.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where multiple switches, sockets or data modules need to be grouped in a single faceplate, the box sits flush with the wall surface when installed, leaving only the faceplate visible. The 35mm depth accommodates standard grid mounting frames and the wiring requirements for typical 6-8 gang configurations without protruding into the cavity behind.

The galvanised steel construction resists corrosion in typical indoor environments and provides a rigid frame that prevents the faceplate from flexing under repeated switching. The box includes pre-punched knockout points for conduit entry and fixing lugs for securing to masonry or plasterboard. The IP20 rating confirms the box is suitable for dry indoor locations, and the included earth terminal ensures safe earthing of metal faceplates.

Frequently Asked

What faceplates does this back box support?

The box is compatible with Knightsbridge 6-gang and 8-gang grid faceplates in both flat plate and screwless finishes. It works with standard grid mounting frames that hold individual switch, socket or data modules in a 2x3 or 2x4 grid layout.

Is 35mm depth enough for all installations?

The 35mm depth handles standard wiring for most residential and commercial 6-8 gang installations. For installations with high cable density or where multiple circuits converge, a deeper 47mm box may be needed to provide adequate space behind the modules.

Can this be used in plasterboard walls?

Yes. The box includes fixing lugs that accept plasterboard fixings or dry-lining screws. For masonry walls, the box can be set into a chased recess and secured with screws or plaster.

What is the warranty period?

Knightsbridge provides a 25-year warranty on this steel back box, covering manufacturing defects and corrosion failures under normal indoor use.
