Description

The Birdie 24V Connector Box sits at the heart of the Birdie garden lighting system. It is a long, low box that takes 230V mains power and connects the lights through a row of capped outlets along one side. It is an accessory rather than a light, so it gives no light of its own. It measures 36cm long, 14cm wide and 5cm tall, with a cable 400cm long. Its dark bronze-grey housing keeps a quiet, workmanlike look beside a wall or under a hedge. It comes in three power versions, 100W Dimmable, 8W and 60W, and the 100W Dimmable version can be dimmed with a compatible dimmer.

This is a box for outdoors. Rated IP65, it is sealed against dust and protected against jets of water, so it can live in a garden, beside a path, at the edge of a terrace or along a border. It suits anyone planning a run of low garden lights, with one box feeding the whole layout. It does not work on its own: it needs Birdie 24V bollard lights and connection cables, each sold separately. The bollard lights give the light, and the connection cables run from each light back to an outlet on the box. Plan how many lights you want and where they will stand before you order.

Construction is straightforward. The outlets line up along one long side, each closed with its own cap, and the mains cable leaves from one end. It is a mains fitting, wired in by a qualified electrician, and it is Protection Class I, which means an earthed design. At just 5cm tall, the box is easy to tuck out of sight behind planting or beside a step, so the lights take the attention and the box does not.
