Description

The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator module provides triple-pole switching for bathroom and kitchen extractor fans behind a smoked bronze grid plate. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front, allowing installation without removing the frame from the wall once the back box and frame are positioned.

Designed for residential bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms where extractor fans require isolated switching, the module uses a triple-pole mechanism that breaks live, neutral and earth connections when switched off. This provides complete isolation for servicing or replacement of the fan unit. The rocker switch is marked 'OFF-O' at the top and 'ON-I' at the bottom, with 'FAN Isolator' embossed on the face.

The smoked bronze finish is a dark metallic tone between gunmetal and antique bronze, giving depth under both natural and artificial light. The ABS and steel construction is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations and tested to a conditional short circuit current of 1500A. The module fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and occupies a single grid position on Knightsbridge grid frames.

What mounting frame does this module require?

The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. Grid frames are available in 1-gang, 2-gang and larger configurations to accommodate multiple grid modules. The frame itself fixes to a standard UK back box.

What does triple-pole switching mean?

Triple-pole switching breaks the live, neutral and earth connections when the switch is in the off position, providing complete electrical isolation. This allows an extractor fan to be safely serviced or replaced without turning off the entire circuit at the consumer unit.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means the module is suitable for Zone 3 in bathrooms (areas more than 600mm from the bath or shower enclosure). It cannot be used inside shower enclosures or directly above baths where higher IP ratings are required.
