Description

The Vendela is a compact outdoor wall light built from die-cast aluminium with an integrated 8W LED and a polycarbonate lens, rated IP65 for protection against dust and water jets. The LED produces 680 lumens at 3000K, casting warm white light downwards and slightly forward from the asymmetric body. The matt black finish is applied over the aluminium casting to resist UV fade and weathering.

Designed for installation on exterior walls at doorways, porches, garage entrances and garden boundaries, the Vendela's 202mm height and 95mm projection suit locations where a low-profile fitting is needed. The asymmetric body shape directs light where it's needed rather than spilling it upwards into the sky, making it suitable for residential areas with light-pollution considerations. The fitting mounts to standard UK back boxes using rear cable entry.

The die-cast aluminium construction provides structural rigidity and heat dissipation for the integrated LED, while the polycarbonate lens withstands impact better than glass. At 121mm wide, the Vendela occupies minimal wall space and works on narrow pillar positions or where multiple fittings are spaced along a facade. The 3000K colour temperature matches traditional warm-white outdoor lighting and coordinates with indoor room temperatures around 2700-3000K visible through windows.

Frequently Asked

What does the IP65 rating mean in practical terms?

IP65 confirms the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. This makes the Vendela suitable for fully exposed outdoor positions including coastal areas with driven rain, although avoiding direct hose-down during cleaning is advisable. The rating does not cover full submersion.

Can the LED be replaced if it fails?

The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. Elstead Lighting covers the LED under a 3-year warranty. The typical lifespan of the LED module is 25,000-30,000 hours, which equates to approximately 8-10 years of operation at 8 hours per night.

How much light does 680 lumens provide?

680 lumens at 3000K is comparable to a traditional 60W incandescent bulb or a 9-10W LED household bulb. This output suits doorway illumination, porch areas, and pathways where functional visibility is needed rather than bright floodlighting.

What wiring is required for installation?

The Vendela requires a standard 230V mains connection via rear cable entry. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P Building Regulations. The fitting can be switched or connected to a PIR sensor or photocell for automatic operation.
