The Zapp is a ceramic globe table lamp made of three rounded forms stacked one on another: a glass globe shade on a slim metal stem, a marbled ceramic ball with soft swirls of grey through cream, and a round metal disc set on a matt black base. It stands 43cm tall and 17cm across. The glass comes in Clear, Frosted or Smoked. Clear and Smoked let the bulb glow through the globe, while Frosted softens it into an even, gentle light. The metalwork comes in Antique Brass & Matt Black, Antique Silver & Matt Black, Polished Brass & Matt Black or Satin Brass & Matt Black.

We see it on a bedside table or a sideboard, and on a side table in the living room, where its 17cm footprint leaves space for a book, a phone or a cup of tea. A matching pair either side of a bed works well, and the rounded shapes sit happily in plain and patterned rooms alike. It plugs in, with a UK plug on a 1.25m cable as standard, which gives you some freedom in where it goes. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.
