Description

A pendant light, 79cm wide, in black. At 79cm it is about as wide as a standard interior door. A pendant is the one light in a room that people look at directly, because it hangs in the sightline rather than sitting at the edge of it. That is worth remembering over a table, where it will be at eye level for everyone sitting down.

Matt black shows dust rather than fingerprints, which is the opposite problem to a polished finish and a much easier one — a dry cloth deals with it. Iron is the traditional choice for a reason: it takes heat, weight and time without complaint. It will mark if it is left wet, so indoors or under cover is where it belongs. It arrives complete with its shade, which is not always true at this price.

There is no dimmer, so the character of the light is set by the bulb you choose: 2700K reads warm, 4000K reads cool and clinical. The cable is black. It hangs from 78cm, so it clears a table without cutting the sightline. 3000K, so the light is fixed at that warmth.

The light you actually see is the light that comes THROUGH the shade, not the light from the bulb. That is why the same bulb reads warm behind a cream fabric and cold behind a white one. Dust is the whole of the maintenance and it matters more than it sounds: an even film of dust on a shade dims a room by more than most people would guess, and a soft brush restores it in a minute.
