Description

The Womarne is an LED flush ceiling light that winds into an open spiral. It is a black band of aluminium and steel with a white plastic diffuser running along its underside, and it curls out from a round ceiling base. It measures 46.5cm long, 39cm wide and 7.5cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling and suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low. The integrated LED draws 37W and gives 4,450lm, a generous output for a single fitting, and there is no bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms.

We see it working well in a hallway, a living room, a bedroom or a dining room, anywhere one ceiling light has to carry the whole room. The black finish draws a clean line against a pale ceiling, and once lit the spiral reads as a ribbon of soft light with a glow spilling onto the ceiling around it. The colour temperature adjusts from a warmer 3000K through to a crisp 6500K, and the light dims. That means the same fitting can give bright, cool light for a busy morning and a warmer, lower setting for the evening. It suits anyone who wants one fitting to do several jobs.

You control it through an app, and it also works with a remote control, sold separately. There is no switch on the fitting itself, as it is switched at the wall. The body is aluminium and steel with a black finish, and the diffuser is white plastic that softens the LEDs into an even line. It carries energy class E and weighs 1.858KG packed. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.

We would keep it out of bathrooms. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in dry rooms such as a hallway, living room or bedroom.
