Description

The Whiteberry pendant pairs two shapes of white ribbed glass on matt black iron: a wide, flattened shade sits above a rounded cylinder, the two joined at the waist by a black collar, with neat black rims at the top and base. Fine vertical ribs run all the way round both pieces of blown glass, softening the light so it reads as an even glow rather than a sharp point. Inside is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or change. It gives 600 lumens from 10W at 3000K, a warm white that is comfortable in the evening, with a colour rendering of 90 or more, so wood, fabric and food keep their true colours beneath it. The 360° beam sends light out through every side of the glass, not only down.

As a pendant it hangs from the ceiling on a 2 m textile cable, and it works well as a single light over a dining table or sideboard, or in a hallway, landing, bedroom or living room where you want a soft glowing shape rather than a hard spot of light. Its lines are modern with a Scandinavian calm, so it sits as happily in a pared-back white room as among warm timber and linen. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The metalwork is iron in a matt black finish, which gives the white glass a crisp outline, and the textile cable keeps the drop looking tidy. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 5 year guarantee. We like it hung on its own, low over a table, where the ribbed glass can be admired up close, with matt black picked up elsewhere in the room in a lamp base, a picture frame or the legs of a chair.
