Description

The Wasmane is an LED floor lamp made from two slender steel arms that sweep apart and together again in a long, loose wave, rising from a flat rectangular base to stand 129cm tall. The body is finished in a warm, light brown, and a white plastic diffuser runs along the inner arm to carry the integrated LED. There is no bulb to buy or change: the 20W LED gives 2,500lm at 4000K, a clean, neutral white. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.

Its narrow footprint lets it stand in a corner, beside a sofa or next to a tall plant, where a bulkier lamp would crowd the space. By day the open, sculptural outline reads as a piece of decor in its own right, and once lit the inner curve glows along its length. We would choose it for a living room, a bedroom, a hallway or a home office, anywhere dry that could use a tall source of light. The brown finish sits comfortably alongside warm wood, linen and neutral colour schemes, and at 2,500lm the output is generous enough for reading and evening tasks as well as general background light.

The frame is steel and the diffuser is plastic, and the lamp weighs 1.79KG packed, so carrying it between rooms is easy work. It runs at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and carries an energy class of E. A foot switch controls it, so there is no bending to reach a small switch. It is not dimmable, so it gives the same full brightness each time it is lit.
