Description

The Virexa is a 620mm vertical wall light built around a single column of natural Spanish alabaster, set against a black oval backplate and bound at its centre by a polished brushed brass collar. The alabaster runs the full height of the fitting, projecting 80mm from the wall, while the integrated LED inside the column lights the stone from within at 3000K on 230V mains.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, bedside positions and either side of a bathroom mirror or vanity, the Virexa works as a vertical accent in spaces where a horizontal light would feel out of proportion. The 200mm-wide oval backplate covers a standard UK wall box, and the 80mm projection keeps the fitting close enough to the wall to suit narrow corridors and circulation routes where deeper sconces would intrude.

Each alabaster column shows different mineral veining and translucency depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two Virexa sconces look identical when lit. The contrast between the pale, cloud-textured alabaster, the matt black oval and the warm brushed brass mid-band gives the fitting a graphic, almost architectural front profile, with fixings concealed behind the backplate to keep the face uninterrupted.

Is the Virexa suitable for bathrooms?

The Virexa does not carry a published IP rating, so it is intended for general indoor use rather than zoned bathroom installation. It can be used in dressing areas and powder rooms outside the splash zones, but should not be fitted in bathroom Zones 0, 1 or 2.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. The column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, mineral clouding and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect, and becomes most visible when the LED is switched on.

What colour temperature does the LED produce?

The integrated LED runs at 3000K on 230V mains, producing a warm white light that pairs well with the cream tones of the alabaster and the brushed brass collar. The LED is not user-replaceable as it is built into the fitting.

Can it be mounted horizontally?

The Virexa is designed as a vertical fitting, with the alabaster column running top to bottom and the brass collar at the mid-point. It can technically be installed on its side as a horizontal sconce, but the proportions and visual balance are intended to read vertically.
