Vinay Woven Jute Armless Dining Chair - Natural

An armless dining chair with a solid wood frame and handwoven jute panels on the seat and the back. The back panel is woven flat between two wrapped uprights in a close basket pattern that reads as a grid of small squares; the seat is woven in concentric diamonds and carried right round the seat rails, so the cord finishes the frame rather than sitting on top of it. The frame is pale with the grain showing through, and the back legs run up unbroken to hold the back panel.

The seat sits 45cm from the floor, the back rises to 87cm, and the chair takes up 52 by 58cm. Without arms it pushes right under a table and takes less width along a side, so more of them fit a long table. It is rated to 100kg.

The frame is solid acacia and the panels are jute, woven onto it by hand. The jute is left its own colour and the wood is finished pale, so the two sit close in tone and the pattern of the weave carries the detail rather than any contrast. It weighs 8.9kg. How do I look after it?

Wipe the wood with a soft dry cloth to lift dust and moisture, working along the grain, and use mild soap and water sparingly rather than a lot of water. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away from it, use coasters and mats, and deal with spills at once. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight and away from extremes of heat and humidity.
