Description
The VIDI C/M 5514 is a compact recessed downlight that takes a single MR16 low-voltage lamp on a GX5.3 cap, running at 12V AC or 12V DC and rated up to a maximum of 10W. It sits flush into the ceiling with a slim round trim, measuring just 77mm in diameter and 25mm deep. In US terms this is the recessed can light format, scaled here for a small low-voltage spotlamp rather than a mains fitting, giving a neat focused pool of light from a discreet aperture.
The VIDI suits hallways, landings, kitchens and living spaces where a clean recessed look is wanted, and its small diameter makes it easy to lay out in groups for even coverage across a room or to pick out a worktop, shelf or alcove. Because the light output depends on the MR16 lamp fitted rather than an integrated source, the spread can be tuned to the room by choosing a wider or narrower beam lamp. Plan several fittings spaced evenly for general ceiling lighting, or a tighter cluster where a brighter task area is needed. As an IP20 fitting it is for dry indoor rooms only and should be kept clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor location.
Built from aluminium alloy with a matte chrome finish, the VIDI is lightweight at 36g and drops into a standard recessed ceiling cut-out. It runs on 12V so a suitable low-voltage transformer is required, and the GX5.3 holder accepts standard MR16 lamps. The round trim gives a tidy, low-profile face once installed.

Frequently Asked
What size cut-out does the VIDI need?
The fitting has an overall trim diameter of 77mm and recesses into the ceiling, so a matching round cut-out is needed in the ceiling board. Always confirm the aperture against the fitting before cutting, as the cut-out is slightly smaller than the visible trim.
Does it need a transformer?
Yes. The VIDI runs on 12V AC or 12V DC, so a suitable low-voltage transformer or driver must be installed to step mains down to 12V. Size the transformer to the total wattage of the lamps on the circuit, allowing for the 10W maximum per fitting.
What lamp does it take?
It uses a GX5.3 cap MR16 lamp, rated up to a maximum of 10W. You can choose the colour temperature and beam angle of the LED MR16 lamp to suit the room, as the lamp is supplied separately.
How do I clean the fitting?
Wipe the matte chrome trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth once the power is off and the lamp has cooled. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents, which can dull the finish on the aluminium alloy body.
