Description

Vibe Blue is an irregular wall mirror 60cm wide and 80cm tall with concentric lines printed onto the glass in blue. The lines follow the outline and crowd together where the curve is tightest, which is what gives a flat panel the appearance of depth.

The outline is a soft five sided shape rather than a circle or a rectangle, and the print does the rest: from across a room the crowded lines read as shadow and the piece looks moulded. Close up it is plainly flat and printed, and both readings are part of it. The clear centre is a working mirror, so it earns its place in a cloakroom or a hallway rather than being purely decorative. It is rated bathroom proof and hangs one way up.

The panel is printed and mirrored glass with no frame, 3cm deep and 6kg, so one person can hang it on the two screws, washers and plugs supplied and there is nothing to assemble. The print is in the glass rather than on it, so nothing on the surface can lift or scratch off, and the panel cleans as a single sheet with cleaner sprayed onto a cloth. Because the printed band takes up a good part of the face, it reflects less than a plain mirror the same size. The same design is made in pink and in black. Because the outline is irregular it does not sit square to anything, which means a spirit level is less use than holding it up and looking, and the single fixing point makes small adjustments easy.
