Description
The Velari is an angled cylinder wall light cut from a single piece of natural Spanish alabaster, mounted to project forward and slightly downward from the wall. An integrated LED inside the stone casts warm 3000K light through the alabaster, turning the cylinder itself into the diffuser. The fitting measures 230mm tall with a 170mm projection and an 80mm stone diameter, keeping the silhouette compact against the wall.
Designed for hallways, stairwell landings, bedside positions and bathroom dressing areas (subject to zone), the angled orientation directs light along the wall surface rather than straight outward, giving a softer wash than a standard up-down cylinder. Paired symmetrically either side of a mirror or bed, the Velari provides ambient light at face height without the glare of an exposed bulb. Hardwired to 230V mains with no visible fixings on the stone body.
Each cylinder is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the cloudy veining and tonal variation differ between pieces — no two Velari fittings light up identically. The internal frame is solid copper, chosen for its rigidity at this small scale and its corrosion resistance behind the stone. The integrated LED removes the need for a replaceable lamp, keeping the exterior of the cylinder uninterrupted by sockets, screws or driver housings.

Frequently Asked
Is the Velari dimmable?
The integrated LED runs on 230V mains at 3000K. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model, so please contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm the LED driver will operate correctly.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
An IP rating is not specified for the Velari, so it should be treated as an indoor fitting outside bathroom zones. For zone 2 or splash-prone positions, choose a fitting with a confirmed IP44 or higher rating.
Does each piece look the same?
No. Each cylinder is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, cloudy tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect, and becomes most visible when the LED is lit.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
