Description

The Vega is a dome pendant light in matt white, a single shade with a smoothly rounded crown that steps out to a wider, flared rim. It hangs on a textile cable from a small round ceiling canopy, 8cm across, and the fitting is 12cm tall and 37cm across, so it reads as a broad, low dome rather than a deep bell. Inside sits one E27 lamp holder, the familiar large screw cap, which means you choose the bulb and the warmth of its light yourself. Lamps are not included, so add one to your order or use one you already have.

Its clean, rounded shape suits modern and Scandinavian rooms, and at 37cm across it is generous enough to hang over a dining table, a sideboard or a bedside table without crowding the space. In a hallway or on a landing a single Vega gives a calm, simple centre to the ceiling, and two or three in a row over a long table look tidy and deliberate. The matt white finish keeps it quiet against pale walls and lets it stand out softly against darker paint. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, such as living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, studies and hallways.

Its structure is iron and it hangs on a 1.5m textile cable. It runs on 220-240V mains and is a simple on-off fitting, worked from your light switch rather than a dimmer, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 2 year guarantee. The matt white surface has no shine, so it shows the shape of the dome cleanly from every angle. For styling, a warm white bulb gives a softer glow over the table, and the plain white dome sits happily with natural oak, linen and pale stone, or against black chairs and dark wood for a crisper contrast.
