Description

The Valparaiso is a linear pendant light built around an oval chrome frame, with tiers of faceted clear glass drops hanging beneath a double chrome band. It measures 90cm long, 30cm wide and 110cm high overall, and hangs from a slim chrome ceiling bar on two chains. The body is steel and the drops are brilliant glass, so the whole piece catches and scatters the light from ten E14 bulbs of up to 40W each, which you choose yourself, since the bulbs are not included. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

We think its long, oval shape is made for a dining table or a kitchen island, where a single round pendant would light only the middle and leave the ends darker. At 90cm long and only 30cm wide, it follows the line of the table and spreads the light along its length, while staying narrow enough not to crowd the space around it. It also suits a formal dining room or a generous living room where you want the sparkle of a chandelier in a lower, broader shape. Chrome and clear glass sit comfortably beside grey, white or deep blue walls, and with dark wood or polished stone, so it fits a classic scheme as readily as a modern one.
