Description

The Valentina M/29 is a compact table lamp with a wide, wavy shade that sits on a slim grey stem like a leaf caught by the breeze. The shade comes in Light Grey & White: light grey on top and white beneath, where soft ripples ring the light source and catch its glow. It stands 29cm tall and 24cm across. The light is an integrated LED of 6.5W, giving 587 lumens at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90, so there is no bulb to buy or change and colours in the room look natural.

We see it on a bedside table or on a side table in the living room, where its modest size suits a small surface and its warm light makes an evening corner feel settled. At 587 lumens it is a lamp for reading by and winding down rather than for lighting a whole room. It plugs in, with cable lengths of 30cm and 150cm, and an on/off switch on the fitting itself means you turn it on and off at the lamp, with no reaching behind furniture. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The Valentina was designed by Alex Fernández Camps, and its charm lies in the contrast between the smooth light grey upper side of the shade and the rippled white underside, all carried on a grey structure. It is made of aluminium and iron, runs at 230V, and as a Class II fitting it needs no earth connection. Before you choose its spot, check the distance to the nearest socket, since the cable decides where it can stand, and keep it within arm's reach so the switch is always handy. It comes with a European plug, so you will need a UK adaptor to use it in a UK socket.
