Description

Sixteen pieces of stainless steel cutlery in four forms: a four tine table fork, a table knife with a rounded blade, a deep egg shaped spoon and a small teaspoon. The working ends are brushed to a bright silver, while the handles are a matt pewter grey, forged by hand so the surface is faceted and uneven under the fingers. Each handle narrows at the neck and then widens again into a flattened, squared end.

The handles are forged rather than pressed, so no two of them face the light the same way and the grey runs darker where the hammer fell. On a pale table the contrast between the bright heads and the dark handles is what the eye reads; on dark linen the heads carry and the handles sink into the fabric. The knife is the longest of the four pieces and the teaspoon the shortest.

Every piece is stainless steel throughout, and the handles are forged using traditional techniques, so the texture is worked into the metal rather than laid over the top of it. That is also why the facets fall differently on each one. Usa is made in this single finish.
