Description

This is a plain round panel of frosted acrylic in opal white, finished at its centre with a small polished chrome detail that gives the face a focal point rather than a flat expanse of milk glass. It measures 50cm across and is very slim in section, so it reads as a soft disc of light rather than a bowl. The frosting spreads light evenly and takes the hard edge off a bare lamp, while the chrome centre picks up a little sparkle from the light passing around it. There is no wiring and no lamp of its own; the light comes from the fitting it serves.

Most people come to us for one of these as a replacement, where an original panel has cracked, yellowed with age or gone missing altogether, and we keep the larger diameters for exactly that reason. It also works as a change of look, swapping a dated diffuser on a serviceable ceiling fitting for something cleaner. The generous width suits hallways, landings, kitchens and bedrooms where a wide, quiet spread of light matters more than a decorative shape overhead. Acrylic keeps the weight down and resists the yellow-edged brittleness of older plastics, and the polished chrome centre is the only bright note against the opal face.
