Description

A frosted acrylic panel in opal white, with a small antique brass disc set at the centre to break up the plain face. At 30cm across it is one of the more common sizes for replacing the diffuser on an existing ceiling fitting, and the acrylic is thin and very light in the hand. Frosted through rather than coated, it softens whatever sits behind it so the light reads as an even glow instead of a bright spot. There is no wiring and no lampholder involved: this is the diffuser on its own.

We keep these for customers who have a fitting worth keeping and a panel that has yellowed, cracked or gone missing altogether. It suits hallways, landings, kitchens and bedrooms, anywhere a plain ceiling fitting does the everyday work and simply needs to look tidy again. The brass centre is also a quiet way to bring a plain fitting into line with warmer metal elsewhere in the room, whether that is door furniture or a pendant nearby. The lamp remains the business of the host fitting, so it is worth checking what that fitting takes and how much room it leaves behind the panel.

Moulded in acrylic rather than glass, which keeps the weight down and makes it far more forgiving in a busy household. For cleaning, wash the face in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid and dry it with a soft cloth; keep solvents, alcohol wipes and scouring creams well away, as they will haze acrylic for good. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same panel with polished chrome, satin nickel and black centre details, and plain with no centre detail at all, so a set of fittings in one room can be matched or deliberately mixed. Larger diameters run through the range if your fitting needs more cover.
