Description
The Ukari in rich green is a dining chair with a padded leather seat and a padded back pad, both carried on a frame of slim dark iron tube. The green is deep and slightly olive, matt where the hide lies flat and lifting to a lighter bloom over the fullest part of each pad, with the colour gathering darker along every seam and crease. The seat is stitched across in two directions into four panels and the back into three, and the back pad is held between the two rear uprights with clear daylight under it.
The seat sits at 49cm and measures 40cm across by 37.5cm deep, which is a working size rather than a lounging one: deep enough to stay in through a long meal, shallow enough for the chair to push right under a table afterwards. The chair itself takes 46cm of floor width, so four of them space out along a two-metre table with room between rather than shoulder to shoulder. It stands 78cm to the top of the back and holds up to 110kg, and at 5.6kg one hand carries it through a doorway.
The hide is buffalo, a by-product of herds kept by local herdsmen, and all of it is dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark rather than pigment. A vegetable dye keeps working, so a green like this one deepens rather than fades, and it moves fastest where hands and sleeves pass over it. The frame is iron. The Ukari range also runs to counter chairs, and the dining chair is made in aged black, aged tan and chocolate brown.

Frequently Asked
What are the seat measurements?
The seat is 49cm from the floor, 40cm across and 37.5cm deep.
Will it go under a dining table?
Yes. The chair is 46cm wide and 52cm deep on the floor and 78cm to the top of the back.
What weight does it take?
Up to 110kg. The chair itself weighs 5.6kg.
Will the green stay this colour?
It deepens. The vegetable dye keeps developing, so the green enriches with use rather than fading out.
What other colours are there?
Aged black, aged tan and chocolate brown, and the range also runs to counter chairs.
How do I look after it?
Wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth and keep chemicals and household cleaners off it. Feed it now and then with a specialist leather product, petroleum jelly or flax oil so it does not dry out and crack.
