Tudai Large Woven Jute Pendant Light - Natural

The Tudai is a wide jute dome, 90cm across and 65cm deep, wound over a radial wire frame. The cord is wrapped in close bands round vertical ribs, tight at the crown and opening out further down until the lower third is more gap than jute, and the rim is cut into shallow lobes rather than left as a circle. Above the dome sits a turned mango wood collar in a warm stain, and above that a brass chain with a rust coloured flex.

Light behaves in two ways here. Through the close wound crown it barely passes, so the top stays dark; through the open lower third and out under the lobed rim it comes in bright vertical bars that follow the ribs. Lit, the bottom half of the dome is the brightest thing in the room and the wooden collar reads dark against it. At 90cm across and 5.08kg it wants a room with height and floor space, over a bed, a large table or the middle of a sitting room. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The jute is wound by hand over an iron frame, so the bands sit at slightly different spacings on every shade and the lobes of the rim are not identical. The collar is mango wood, stained to a warm tone that shows the grain. Bulbs are not included.

Switch it off, then wipe it gently with a microfibre cloth or lift the dust with a soft brush. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
