Description
The Triveni is a round side table in solid mango wood, 60cm tall and 46cm across. The top is dished, with a raised edge standing proud of the surface right the way round and jointed in segments, and the grain runs across it in wide figured bands. Four flat legs drop from under the top, set in from its edge, and a second round shelf sits between them low down. The walnut stain reads brown rather than gold and sinks into the open grain, so the figure comes up darker than the ground around it.
At 60cm the top stands a little above the arm of most sofas and armchairs, which puts a glass within reach of someone sitting down. The raised edge keeps a cup or a book from sliding off the dished top, and the lower shelf takes what would otherwise crowd it: magazines, a remote, a short stack of books. At 46cm across it is wide enough to stand between two chairs and serve both, and narrow enough for a small hallway or the gap beside a bed.
The wood is mango throughout and the table is made by hand, so the figure across the top differs from one to the next. Mango is a by-product of fruit farming: the trees are grown for their crop and felled for timber only once they stop bearing, which is what makes the wood available. The stain is sealed to protect it, and at 5.3kg the table is light enough to move with one hand.

Frequently Asked
How tall is the table?
60cm to the top, and 46cm across.
Is the top flat?
No. It is dished, with a raised edge running right round it, so the surface sits a little below the lip.
Is there any storage?
There is a second round shelf low between the legs. There are no drawers.
Is it solid wood?
Yes, solid mango throughout, under a walnut stain.
How should I look after it?
Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth to lift dust and moisture. Mild soap and water can be used, but not much water, which damages the grain and the stain. Deal with spills at once, keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away, and use coasters and mats under anything wet.
