Description

The Tribis II is a round recessed downlight that drops into the ceiling to sit flush with the surface, giving a clean, fitting-free look. It takes a single GU10 lamp rated up to 10W and runs straight from a 220-240V AC mains supply, with no separate transformer to wire in. Fitted with a 3000K warm white lamp it casts a soft, settled light, and because the GU10 holder is a standard recessed can light format in US terms, the lamp can be swapped to suit the brightness you want. The fixture measures Ø82mm with a shallow 22mm depth behind the trim.

Use the Tribis II across hallways, landings, kitchens, bedrooms and living areas where a discreet ceiling light is wanted, grouping several across a run to spread the light evenly. At a max 10W per lamp the output stays modest, so plan on several fittings rather than one to cover a room, spacing them on a grid for a balanced wash. The shallow 22mm body sits behind the ceiling line, which helps where the void above the plasterboard is tight. As an IP20 fitting it is for dry interior rooms only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor location.

The body is steel with a chrome finish, giving a bright reflective trim that suits modern interiors. It carries an IP20 rating for indoor use and recesses into the ceiling through the cut-out, held by spring clips behind the surface. The fitting runs on mains voltage through the GU10 holder, so a replacement lamp simply twists into the cap rather than needing any driver, and the rated lamp life is around 25,000 hours. The fitting has an overall diameter of Ø82mm, so it drops into a recessed ceiling cut-out sized for an 82mm trim. Check the spec sheet for the exact hole diameter before cutting, as the cut-out is the opening the fitting sits in rather than the visible trim size. It needs around 22mm of clearance behind the plasterboard.

Can I dim the Tribis II?

The fitting itself is a GU10 holder, so dimming depends entirely on the lamp you fit and the wall dimmer used. Choose a dimmable GU10 lamp paired with a compatible LED dimmer to dim the output. With a non-dimmable lamp it runs at full brightness only.

Is the Tribis II fire-rated?

This model is a standard recessed downlight rather than a fire-rated fitting, so it does not carry a fire rating in its specification. Where a fire-rated downlight is required by building regulations, use a fitting specified for that purpose or add an approved fire hood above it. Always follow the regulations that apply to your ceiling build.

How do I clean the chrome trim?

Wipe the chrome trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to keep it bright, having first switched off the supply and let any lamp cool. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh cleaners, which can mark the chrome finish. As an IP20 fitting it must be kept dry, so do not use a wet cloth around the lamp holder.
