Description
Torus is a square wall mirror one metre across, with a broad ring silvered by hand around a plain mirrored centre. A torus is the shape a circle makes when it turns around its own axis, and the ring here is silvered by pouring rather than by machine, so the metal breaks into clouded patterns in black, grey, silver and brown that are different on every mirror. The rest of the glass is silvered industrially and polished flat, so the poured ring sits against a perfectly even surface. The design is by Esther Everaert.
The contrast is the point, and it needs light to show: the poured ring changes considerably depending on whether it is lit from the side or straight on, and the patterns read as different shapes to different people. It suits a hallway, a living room or a bedroom wall where it can be seen from a few paces back rather than passed close by. It is rated bathroom proof, so a bathroom is open to it as well. It hangs in one direction. Two screws with washers and plugs are supplied and there is nothing to assemble. At 11kg and 2.5cm deep it is a one person lift and sits close to the wall. Because each ring is poured individually, the mirror that arrives will not match the photographs pattern for pattern.
The mirror is hand poured silvering on mirrored glass. Clean the plain centre with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth, and dust the poured ring rather than wiping it, since the silvering is worked into the surface and a wet cloth will mark it. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.

Frequently Asked
Will my mirror match the photographs?
Not exactly. The ring is silvered by pouring, so the pattern is different on every piece.
What colours are in the ring?
Black, grey, silver and brown, in clouded patterns left by the pour.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
Yes. It is rated bathroom proof, so steam and humidity are not a problem.
How should the silvered ring be cleaned?
Dust it dry. The silvering sits in the surface and a damp cloth will mark it.
What size is it and what does it weigh?
100cm square, 2.5cm deep, weighing 11kg.
