Description

The Tortoreto is a slim ceiling light in the shape of a plain cylinder, made from aluminium and finished in matt black. It is 25cm tall and 6cm in diameter, and it fixes straight to the ceiling, so the light falls downwards from the open end of the tube. It takes one GU10 bulb, which is not included, and that leaves the choice of lamp to you: a warm white for a relaxed living room, or a cooler white where you want crisper light for reading or work. We have no IP rating for this light, so we recommend it for dry rooms indoors only.

Because it sits on the ceiling rather than hanging, the Tortoreto suits hallways, landings and rooms with lower ceilings, where a pendant would crowd the space. A row of them over a dining table or a long sideboard gives focused pools of light, and a pair either side of a bed or a sofa works well in a smaller room. The matt black body stands out cleanly against a white ceiling and sits comfortably with modern and industrial schemes, black window frames, dark metal furniture and concrete or timber floors. It is a good choice if you want spotlight-style lighting without cutting holes in the ceiling for recessed downlights.

The body is aluminium, a light metal, and the whole fitting weighs 0.45KG, so it puts very little load on the ceiling. The matt black finish has an even, low-sheen look that suits a plain, uncluttered room. There is no switch on the light itself, so it works from the wall switch, like most ceiling lights, and it runs on 220-240V mains.
