Description

The Tortola 1 is an arc floor lamp in black and brass. A long steel arm sweeps out from a slim upright and holds a wide fabric drum shade well clear of the stand. The shade is black on the outside with a brass lining, and a brass hanger and brass corner details carry the same warm tone. It stands 203cm tall on a round base with a diameter of 37.5cm. The shade holds three E27 bulbs of up to 40W each. Bulbs are not included, so the colour and brightness of the light are yours to choose. The IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Because the arm reaches far out into the room, the base can stand beside a sofa or behind an armchair while the shade hangs over the seat. That gives you a reading light, or a pool of light over a coffee table, with no ceiling point needed. It suits a living room, a snug or the lounge end of an open-plan space. It is also a good answer for anyone renting who would rather not add a new ceiling light. The foot switch means a tap of the toe works the lamp, with no reaching into the shade.

The frame and arm are steel in a black finish with brass accents, and the shade is black fabric lined in brass. The round base is dark with pale veining, a quiet contrast to the slim black upright. A soft, dry cloth is all the steel needs, and a soft brush passed lightly over the shade lifts dust from the weave. The lamp runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains.
