Description
The Thor is a recessed in-ground uplight that sets into the floor and throws a narrow blade of light upward. Only the ring sits flush with the paving; the body buries beneath, so the fitting reads as a line in the ground until it lights a wall, a column or a tree from the base. The optic is a linear projector, pushing a tight 26 degree wash rather than a broad flood, which grazes a surface and pulls out its texture. Lit, it lays a defined stripe of warm light up the face above it; unlit, the anthracite ring stays low and out of the way underfoot.
Output is a warm 3000K tone from a built-in OSRAM LED drawing 19W for 1700 lumens, with a colour rendering above 90 so stone, render and bark keep their true tone under the beam. Rated IP67 against water and dust and IK08 against impact, it is built to be walked over and to take weather, which suits a path edge, a courtyard or a planted bed where the fitting has to sit in the ground. It runs from mains at a fixed level with its driver built in.
The body is die-cast aluminium with a 316L stainless steel ring and a glass diffuser, finished anthracite, about 500mm across the visible ring. The LED is integrated and rated to 50,000 hours, replaceable by a qualified installer rather than a plug-in bulb. Because it is recessed into the ground and sealed to IP67, we would set it into paving or a bed where its narrow beam can rake a vertical surface.

Frequently Asked
What kind of light does the Thor give?
A narrow upward wash. The linear optic throws a tight 26 degree beam at a warm 3000K tone with a colour rendering above 90, drawing 19W for 1700 lumens, so it grazes a wall or trunk from ground level rather than flooding a wide area.
Is it made to be walked over outdoors?
Yes, it recesses into the ground and is sealed to IP67 against dust and water with IK08 impact resistance, so it can be walked over and left out in weather in a path, courtyard or planted bed.
Does it use a bulb, and can it be dimmed?
The OSRAM LED is built in and rated to 50,000 hours, replaceable only by a qualified installer, not a plug-in bulb. It runs at a fixed level and is not made to be dimmed.
Where does it suit and how is it fitted?
It buries into paving or a bed with only the 500mm anthracite ring flush at the surface, so it suits uplighting a facade, column or tree from below. Its narrow 26 degree beam is best aimed up a nearby vertical face.
