Description

ThePalm is an LED chandelier of curving tubular arms that spring from a central cylinder of tubes and turn upwards in tiers, each arm ending in a white acrylic diffuser that glows with warm 2700K light. It comes in three light counts and two finishes: satin gold with 12, 18 or 30 lights, and white with 30 lights. The 12-light chandelier is 56cm tall and 75cm across, uses 22.9W and gives 1889 lumens. The 18-light is 75cm tall and 107cm across, with 34.34W and 2833 lumens. The 30-light is 76cm tall and 115cm across, with 57.24W and 4723 lumens. The LEDs are integrated, so there is never a bulb to buy or change.

With arms that reach so wide, we see it over a dining table, at the centre of a generous living room or hanging in a double-height hall or stairwell, where the light spreads from every tip. The 12-light and 18-light chandeliers have a drop of 250cm, and the 30-light a drop of 200cm, so check your ceiling height before you choose. Its colour rendering index of 80+ keeps wood, fabric and food looking natural. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The maker states it is for indoor use only.

The frame is iron and the diffusers are acrylic, and the finish is your choice of satin gold or white, with white available in the 30-light chandelier only. The design is by Cristian Cubiñá. It is not dimmable, so it runs from an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer, and it carries energy class E. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. For styling, we like the satin gold finish against pale walls and white curtains, while the white finish suits a plainer, brighter room; keep what sits beneath it simple and let the arms do the talking.

No. Every version uses integrated LEDs at the tip of each arm, giving a warm 2700K light, so there are no bulbs to buy or replace.

Can I dim it?

No. It is not dimmable, so it should be wired to an ordinary on and off switch rather than to a dimmer.
