This is The Ultimate Stripe cushion, a 45 x 45cm square worked in a soft velvet jacquard. The stripe is not printed on but woven in, so the design comes from the way the pile catches the light rather than from any surface pattern. That is what gives it the shifting, tone-on-tone effect you can see in the photograph: broad bands of pale and slightly deeper green that read as a gentle stripe from across the room and as a change in texture up close. The finish is matt, so it sits quietly rather than shining.
