Description

The Tessa is a dome wall light with an adjustable head. A soft, rounded matt black shade hangs from the end of a slim straight arm that runs out from a round wall plate, and the shade can be angled to put the light where you need it. It takes one E27 lamp, the common screw cap, so you choose the bulb and with it the warmth and brightness of the light; lamps are not included. The shade is 13cm tall and 11.5cm across, a compact size that keeps the fitting neat on the wall. The structure is aluminium on an iron base, finished throughout in matt black.

Its clean lines and plain matt finish suit modern and Scandinavian rooms. Beside a bed it makes a good reading light, and fixed either side of a headboard a pair frees the bedside tables for books and a glass of water. In a living room, angle the shade down over an armchair or a sideboard; in a hallway, on a landing or above a desk in a study, it gives a pool of light just where it is wanted. Rated IP20, it is for dry rooms only.

The aluminium structure and iron base share the same matt black finish, so arm, wall plate and shade read as one simple shape. It is an on-off fitting for 220-240V mains, so it switches simply on and off rather than dimming, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 2 year guarantee. For styling, the matt black stands out crisply against white, cream or pale grey walls, and it sits comfortably alongside black picture frames, iron curtain poles or dark door handles. A warm white lamp suits bedrooms and living rooms best.
