Description

The Tessa is an articulated table lamp in matt black and gold, with a dome shade carried on a jointed, adjustable arm. Two slim black sections rise from a round base and meet at gold joints, so you can angle the shade exactly where you want the light. It stands 48cm tall and reaches 50cm wide, on a base 18cm across. The dome shade itself is 13cm tall and 11.5cm across, and it takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the colour of light that suits you.

With its pivoting arm and focused shade, it works well as a task lamp on a desk in a study or home office, and as a bedside lamp for reading. Angle the shade down over a book or keyboard, or turn it towards the wall for a softer wash of light across a living room or bedroom. The clean lines and gentle curve of the dome suit modern and Scandinavian interiors, and the black and gold pairing sits as comfortably beside pale oak as against darker painted walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The structure is iron, the shade is aluminium and the 2m cable is covered in textile, which looks neater trailing across a desk than plain flex. It is a simple on-off switched lamp running on 220-240V, so there is no dimmer to match, and it carries a 2 year guarantee. We like it at the back corner of a desk, with the arm reaching forward over your work, where the gold joints can pick up brass handles, a picture frame or a gold-rimmed mug close by.
