Description

Terrazzo Round is a round wall mirror one metre across, printed with terrazzo chips in red, teal, ochre and grey gathered towards the lower edge rather than spread evenly over the face. The chips are printed onto the silvered glass, so they sit in the reflection, and the density falls away towards the top, leaving two thirds of the disc as plain mirror. The design is by Esther Everaert.

It turns on a rotating suspension rather than hanging in fixed directions, and that is the point of the gathered chips: turning the mirror moves the weight of the pattern anywhere round the circle without touching the fixings. It suits a hallway, a bedroom or a bathroom, where it is rated to go. At 8.5kg and 2.5cm deep it is an easy one person lift, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble.

The mirror is printed and mirrored glass with a rotating suspension, frameless. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth rather than onto the glass. The chips are printed rather than inlaid, so the surface is flat and nothing catches a cloth, and the colours are opaque rather than translucent, which is why they hold against a dark wall as well as a pale one. Real terrazzo is chips set in cement and ground back, and the print keeps the irregularity of that rather than repeating a tile, so the pattern does not resolve into a unit at close range. A rectangular size is made in the same print. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.
