The Telmena is a white LED wall light made for reading: a slim rectangular box sits flat against the wall, a flexible gooseneck arm rises from its top, and a small cylindrical head at the end points the light exactly where you need it. The body is steel and plastic in a clean white finish, measuring 6.5cm in length and 30cm in height, and it stands 16cm out from the wall. The LED is integrated, drawing 3.8W for 320 lumens of warm white light at 3000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors and dry, in a bedroom, study or living room, and never in a bathroom or on an outside wall.

Its natural home is beside the bed. Fit one on each side of a double bed and each of you can angle the head across a book without lighting the whole room, which matters when the other wants to sleep. The USB port on the base of the box lets a phone charge within reach of the pillow, so there is no hunting behind the bedside table for a spare socket. It suits a reading chair, a desk nook or a guest room just as well, anywhere a narrow, directed beam is more useful than a ceiling light.

A rocker switch is set into the side of the box, easy to find by hand in the dark, and the gooseneck holds whichever angle you set. The light is not dimmable, so it gives the same steady brightness every time, which keeps things simple. As a mains wall light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
