Description
The Tear TR is a surface-mounted track system that gives you a continuous live rail to position and reposition lighting heads along its length. It runs on mains voltage at 220-240V AC, so no separate transformer is needed, and it fixes directly to the ceiling rather than recessing into it. Track lighting like this is widely known in the US as a track light rail, and the principle is the same on either side of the Atlantic: a single powered channel that feeds multiple heads, letting you aim light exactly where it is wanted instead of fixing it to one spot.
This 2M length suits open-plan living spaces, kitchens, hallways and retail or studio interiors where a row of directional heads needs to cover a worktop, a wall of artwork or a circulation route. Because the track itself does not emit light, coverage depends entirely on the heads you add and where you point them, so the throw can be concentrated over a single feature or spread evenly across a span. It is well suited to standard ceiling heights, where heads can be angled down onto a surface or grazed along a wall. The fitting is rated IP20, which means it is intended for dry indoor rooms only and should be kept clear of bathrooms, porches and any exposed or damp location.
Built from aluminium alloy in a black finish, the 2M track weighs 1.56kg and mounts to the ceiling surface using fixings into the structure above. The conductors are housed within the extruded profile, and heads connect by clicking into the live rail at any point along its run. The black finish reads neatly against pale or dark ceilings alike and matches other heads and accessories in the Tear range, so a full layout can be built up over time.

Frequently Asked
What is track lighting and how does it work?
Track lighting is a powered rail fixed to the ceiling that carries the mains supply along its full length. Individual lighting heads clip onto the live rail and draw power from it wherever they are positioned. This lets you run several directional lights from a single circuit and aim each one independently.
How do you install the Tear TR track?
The 2M track is surface-mounted, fixing directly to the ceiling with screws into the structure above rather than recessing into it. The mains supply at 220-240V AC feeds the rail, so no separate transformer is required. We would always recommend a qualified electrician makes the final connection to the mains.
Can you add or move heads as the layout changes?
Yes. Heads clip onto the live rail and can be slid along, repositioned or removed at any point on the 2M run. This makes it easy to rebalance the lighting if you rearrange furniture, change a display or add more heads from the Tear range later.
Can the Tear TR track be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. The track is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor use only. It should be kept clear of bathrooms, porches, garages and any damp or exposed location, where a higher-rated fitting would be needed instead.
