Description
The Tear TR is a 2 metre mains-voltage track that forms the backbone of a flexible lighting layout, running on a standard 220-240V AC supply with no separate low-voltage driver to wire in. Track lighting works by carrying current along a continuous conductor inside the rail, so compatible heads clip in at any point along the length and draw power directly from the track. This is the same idea behind what many in the US would call a track lighting system or rail, letting you position light exactly where it is needed rather than at fixed points.
Inside the home this surface-mounted track suits open-plan kitchens, living spaces and hallways where the lighting needs to follow the room rather than a single ceiling point. Because heads can be added, removed and slid along the rail, a single 2 metre run can wash a worktop, pick out a row of artwork or angle light into a reading corner, then be reworked as the room changes. Coverage depends on the heads you fit and how you aim them, so think of the track as the route and the heads as the throw: cluster them for a bright zone or spread them out for even general light along the length. As an indoor IP20 fitting it is for dry interior locations only, not porches, bathrooms or any sheltered-outdoor position.
The rail is built from aluminium alloy in a white finish, weighing 1.56kg, and mounts directly onto the ceiling surface rather than recessing into it. It runs on mains voltage at 220-240V AC, so heads connect straight to the track without an intermediate transformer. Mounting hardware fixes the rail flush to the ceiling, and further sections or heads from the Tear range can be added to extend or reconfigure the run as your layout needs change.

Frequently Asked
How does this track lighting work?
The 2 metre rail carries mains voltage along internal conductors, and compatible track heads clip in at any point to draw power directly from it. This means you can place lights along the length wherever you need them instead of being tied to a fixed ceiling point. It runs on a standard 220-240V AC supply.
How is the track installed?
It is surface-mounted, fixing flat against the ceiling with the supplied hardware rather than recessing into it. Connect the 2 metre rail to your mains 220-240V AC supply, then attach your chosen heads. As with any mains wiring, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Can I add or move heads as my layout changes?
Yes. Heads can be slid along the rail, repositioned or removed at any time, which is the main advantage of a track system over fixed spotlights. You can cluster several together to brighten one zone or spread them out for even light along the 2 metre run.
Is this track suitable for outdoor or bathroom use?
No. It carries an IP20 rating, which covers dry indoor locations only. Keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor position, and use it in living rooms, kitchens and hallways instead.
