The Tear TR is a 2 metre mains-voltage track that forms the backbone of a flexible lighting layout, running on a standard 220-240V AC supply with no separate low-voltage driver to wire in. Track lighting works by carrying current along a continuous conductor inside the rail, so compatible heads clip in at any point along the length and draw power directly from the track. This is the same idea behind what many in the US would call a track lighting system or rail, letting you position light exactly where it is needed rather than at fixed points.

Inside the home this surface-mounted track suits open-plan kitchens, living spaces and hallways where the lighting needs to follow the room rather than a single ceiling point. Because heads can be added, removed and slid along the rail, a single 2 metre run can wash a worktop, pick out a row of artwork or angle light into a reading corner, then be reworked as the room changes. Coverage depends on the heads you fit and how you aim them, so think of the track as the route and the heads as the throw: cluster them for a bright zone or spread them out for even general light along the length. As an indoor IP20 fitting it is for dry interior locations only, not porches, bathrooms or any sheltered-outdoor position.

The rail is built from aluminium alloy in a white finish, weighing 1.56kg, and mounts directly onto the ceiling surface rather than recessing into it.
