Description

The Tear PADAPTOR-W is a mains-voltage track adaptor that links a compatible track head to a three-phase track system. Running on 220 to 240V AC, it carries power directly from the live conductor in the rail to the fitting clipped onto it, so there is no separate driver to specify. In US terms this part is the connector that mounts a track light onto its busbar, the small but essential piece that turns a length of track into a working lighting layout. It measures 85 by 32 by 55mm and weighs just 80g, a compact white component designed to sit discreetly within the run.

Track lighting suits spaces where the lit points need to shift over time, such as retail displays, galleries, kitchens and home offices, and this adaptor is what makes that flexibility practical. Because it is IP20 rated, keep it to dry indoor locations only and clear of bathrooms, porches or any exposed area. The adaptor itself does not throw light; it positions and powers the head you fit to it, so coverage depends on the head and beam you choose. Adding or moving adaptors along the rail lets you redirect accents onto artwork, worktops or shelving without rewiring.

The body is moulded plastic in a white finish that blends with most ceiling tracks and pale rails. It clips and locks onto the three-phase conductor, drawing mains supply through the contact so the connected head runs straight off the rail. There is no transformer or external driver involved at this voltage. The white casing keeps the connection visually quiet against the ceiling line. Other Tear track components and compatible heads are available across the range to complete a layout.

Frequently Asked

What track does this adaptor fit?

It is designed for a three-phase track system, clipping and locking onto the live conductor in the rail. Check that your track is the matching Tear three-phase type before ordering, as single-phase and three-phase rails are not interchangeable.

How does it work within a track layout?

The adaptor mounts a compatible head onto the track and draws power from the rail's live conductor to feed it. Running at 220 to 240V AC, it passes mains supply straight through, so no separate driver is needed for the connection itself.

Can heads be added or repositioned later?

Yes. The adaptor clips onto and unclips from the rail, so you can add further heads or slide existing ones to new positions as a display or room layout changes. This is the main advantage of a track system over fixed points.

Can this be used outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. With an IP20 rating it is for dry indoor use only and must be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor location. Use it in living rooms, kitchens, offices and retail spaces.
