Description

Our Tay flush ceiling light is a slim glass tube on a round brass backplate, holding a single bulb close to the ceiling. It is 25cm tall and 12cm across, a compact size that keeps the fitting out of the way where a pendant would hang too low. The body is brass and comes in seven finishes: Polished Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Natural Brass, Matt Black, White and Satin Brass. The glass tube comes in two kinds, Clear, which leaves the bulb in plain view, or Prismatic, with fine upright ribs running its length. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes one E27 bulb, up to 6.5W per bulb (LED).

It is rated IP65, so it suits a bathroom, and it is just as at home in a hallway, the two rooms we would choose it for first. In a bathroom, the brass finishes sit well beside brass taps and fittings, while Matt Black and White give a plainer look against tiles or painted walls. In a hallway or along a corridor ceiling, a few in a row keep a low ceiling clear and give a neat line of light from the front door onwards. It is a good choice for anyone who wants a small, tidy fitting rather than a shade that hangs down.

It is made of brass and glass, and each one is made to order for you in Ireland. The Matt Black and White finishes are painted to RAL 9005 and RAL 9010, which helps if you want to match a door, a radiator or a wall colour. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. It is wired in to the mains, so it needs a qualified electrician to install it.
