Description

The Tarvena is a dome pendant light with a deep steel shade, soft grey on the outside and white inside, hung from a black steel ceiling canopy on a slim black cable. It stands 150cm tall overall and measures 53.5cm across the shade, a generous size that holds its own over a long table or under a high ceiling. It takes a single E27 bulb, up to a maximum of 40W, and the bulb is not included, so the colour and warmth of the light are yours to choose. With an IP20 rating it belongs indoors, in dry rooms.

We think of it first over a dining table, where the open dome throws the light down across the tabletop, helped by the white inner shade. It works just as well above a kitchen island, in a living room or in a hallway with a tall ceiling, anywhere a single, wide pendant can anchor the room. The soft grey and white sit easily with oak, linen and pale painted walls, while the black canopy and cable give a crisp line at the ceiling. Because it is switched at the wall, it simply runs from the light switch you already have, with no pull cord to add.

Both the body and the shade are steel, a strong, rigid metal that holds the clean curve of the dome. Packed, the light weighs 3.346KG. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download to read beforehand. For the bulb, choose any E27 of 40W or less; buying it alongside the pendant means the light is ready on the day it is fitted.
