Description

The Tanit M/29/R is a rechargeable table lamp in the shape of a small faceted lantern: a beige woven shade on slim feet, with a curved carry handle across the top. It is 29cm tall overall, with a body 18.5cm tall and 15.5cm across, so it sits comfortably on a bedside table or a shelf. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It draws 1.5W and gives 87 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 80: a soft glow through the weave for mood rather than for reading. It comes with a beige shade and two silicone handles, one in terracotta and one in chocolate brown.

It runs at 5V DC on a rechargeable battery, charged by USB-C, so there is no flex to hide while it is lit, and you can carry it by its handle from the living room to the bedroom as the evening goes on. It suits a sideboard, a coffee table or a bedside table, and its low, warm light is made for winding down at the end of the day or for a quiet supper at the dining table. In the bedroom, it is a calm alternative to a bright overhead light. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

We like how honest its materials are: it is made of iron, cotton and silicone, with the woven cotton shade letting the light through in fine warm lines and the silicone handles soft in the hand. The design is by Gonzalo Milà.
