Talia 5 Light G9 Round Pendant Light 45cm - Polished Chrome

Five clear glass shades sit on a round polished chrome frame, each holding a small silver mesh inner shade that breaks the light as it passes through. The glass is compact rather than showy, so the eye reads the ring of chrome first and the lights held within it. Each socket takes a G9 capsule, which keeps the lamps tucked inside the glass. At 45cm across, the frame is broad enough to fill the space above a table without crowding it, and the body itself is shallow.

We would hang this over a dining table or a kitchen island, where the drop can be set low enough for the glass to sit near eye level. The suspension adjusts over a wide range, so it also suits a hallway or a stairwell with height to spare. It works well in rooms where one large shade would look heavy, since the light comes from several small sources spread around the ring instead. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a matching dimmer, worth doing in a dining room where you want the level to come down after a meal. It asks for an earthed supply, as metal fittings do, and belongs in dry indoor rooms.

Glass and metal throughout, with the chrome polished to a bright shine that holds up well when kept free of dust. Wipe the shades with a barely damp cloth once the lamps have cooled, then dry them at once so the chrome is not left marked. It carries a one year warranty. The Talia range runs wide: a smaller round pendant, linear pendants in a choice of lengths, flush and semi-flush ceiling versions, a single small pendant and a switched wall light, so one look can carry a whole floor. Lamps are not included.

How far down can it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 180mm at its shortest to 2180mm at its longest, so it can sit close under the ceiling or fall low over a table.

Which lamps should I fit?

LED G9 capsules, rated up to 10W each. Five are needed in total, and they are bought separately.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable G9 capsules and use a dimmer suited to them. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

How big are the individual shades?

Each clear glass shade measures 120mm in diameter and 95mm high, with an iron silver mesh shade inside at 90mm across and 90mm high.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and should be kept to dry rooms away from splashes and steam.

How wide is the fitting overall?

The round frame is 450mm in diameter with a body height of 130mm, and the fitting weighs 3.6kg.
