Talia 5 Light G9 Flush Ceiling Light 45cm - Polished Chrome

A round polished chrome plate carries five clear glass shades, each with a small silver mesh shade set inside the glass, so the lamp is veiled while the outline stays crisp. It holds close to the ceiling rather than hanging, and the glass is spaced evenly across the 45cm width. Each glass is a compact cylinder, so the whole fitting reads as a group of small lights rather than one broad shade. The sockets take G9 capsules, and we would fit LED ones here.

Flush fittings like this one come into their own where headroom is tight: hallways, landings, a low bedroom ceiling, a small kitchen or a study where a pendant would sit in the way. Spreading the light across separate glasses gives a wider wash than a single dome, which suits a hall you walk through as much as a room you sit in. It is one we reach for when a chandelier would be too much and a single plain fitting too little. It will dim, though dimmable capsules and a separate dimmer are needed. It is an earthed fitting for dry indoor rooms.

Glass and metal throughout, with the chrome brought to a bright polish that picks up daylight and lamplight alike. Keep it looking right with a dry cloth for dust and an occasional wipe of the glass with a barely damp one, power off and the capsules cool. It carries a one year warranty. The same clear glass and mesh treatment runs through the range, so we can match it with a smaller round flush fitting, a square four light version, linear and round pendants, and a switched wall light. Lamps are not included.

Which lamps does it take?

Five G9 capsules, up to 10W each. LED capsules are what we would use, and lamps are not supplied with the fitting.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable G9 LED capsules and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer is included.

How much ceiling does it take up, and how far does it drop?

It measures 450mm across and stands 150mm from the ceiling, so it sits well clear of head height.

What are the shades made of?

Each outer shade is clear glass, 120mm in diameter and 95mm high, with an iron mesh shade in a silver finish inside it measuring 90mm across and 90mm high.

How should I clean the glass?

Switch off at the wall and let the capsules cool, then dust with a soft dry cloth. For fingermarks, a barely damp cloth on the glass followed by a dry buff is enough. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams on the chrome.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms such as halls, landings, bedrooms and kitchens away from splashes.
